A (not so) typical Banda dinner

We had this really wonderful Banda dinner on April 23rd, 2011.

Hosted by Mutiara guest house.

Banda_dinner_the_buffet

The whole buffet

Banda_dinner_kuah_iso

The starter. It's called 'kuah iso'.

It's fish meatballs soup, with many spices including crushed almonds that made the soup a bit thick.

Best soup I've ever tasted in my life.

Banda_dinner_sweet_lips_empero

The best fish ever. This is 'sweetlip emperor'.

The meat is so soft like butterm it melts in your mouth.

The eggs have a texture like cream.

Banda_dinner_barracuda

Barracuda fish. Grilled.

Taste like chicken, but better.

Banda_dinner_salad_nanas

Pineapple salad. Yummy and fresh.

Banda_dinner_salad

Regular salad. The sauce also has crushed almonds in it.

Banda_dinner_semur_terong

Eggplant in soy sauce.

Banda_dinner_suasana

The atmosphere at the dinner.

Shipspotting

Of all the ships that entered the water of Banda, these two are the most pretty.

Rhun Island

Rhun Island.

The one the Dutch traded with the British for Manhattan.
That's why the island is also known as Banda's Manhattan.

Taken April 23rd, 2011.

Nutmeg

The thing that made Indonesia became colonized in the first place: nutmeg.

The palm belongs to the farmer who just picked the fruit.
